Private Plates

No longer just a status symbol enjoyed by celebrities with money to spare, private plates are becoming more and more popular all the time. These days more and more people from all walks of life are being bitten by the personal number plates bug. Some buy their cherished registrations as a way of personalising their cars, some buy for investment purposes (more about that later), some as a way of showing their success, while many more see the whole thing simply as great fun... and choose their registration numbers accordingly.

In the previous paragraph we briefly mentioned the concept of private plates as an investment... Perhaps not the first thing that springs to mind for most people, but we are quite serious. A good personal registration can command a very high price, and the experienced or imaginitive buyer can still snap up bargain combinations with real investment potential.

Of course there are some private number plates whose appeal is obvious, and one can see immediately why they are a little on the expensive side. Consider, for example, the registrations X 1, E 1 and Y 1 which are currently for sale at Regtransfers.co.uk: each of these sports a price tag of £500,000. Expensive? Perhaps, but there is no shortage of interest in these marks.
