Unforgettable plate for REM!
Roberta Moody from Worthing in West Sussex had thought for a
long time that she would like a personal number plate. She said:
"I first became interested in the idea of a personalised
plate years ago when I visited the US and saw some of the amazing
plates on the cars there; some of them were such fun and it was
then that I thought that one day I would like one of my own. The
real impetus to get one, however, was finally down to the fact
that I was simply hopeless at remembering my own number plate
- each time I changed my car it was always the same sad story
- and so I decided it would be fun to have a plate with my initials
on it. This surely would be IMPOSSIBLE to forget! The trouble
was that my initials are REM - also the name of the pop group
- which made any purchase of such a plate a rather expensive business.
"I saw an REM advertised in the Telegraph and rang to find
out how much it would cost. Needless to say it was a bit out of
my league but the helpful sales person, Justine, found M500 ODY
for me instead which was a nice surprise and certainly close enough
to my surname for me to never forget it. It was also far more
affordable."
"One thing I hadn't thought about before buying the plates
is how often you are recognised by friends and workmates when
you are out driving around with personalised plates on your car.
It is surprising how many times you get noticed in the unlikeliest
of places!"
